LPI is converting a large percentage of Crown land parcels to Torrens Title, giving the properties a Torrens Title reference and incorporating them in the computerised titling system.
How can these records help?
Having Crown Reserves in the computerised Torrens system helps Government agencies manage and value these assets.
Members of the public are also able to research these properties. For instance, reserves have a title reference that you use to do a Title Search and confirm government ownership.
Accessing records?
Public access
Crown land computerised titles can be searched the same as other computerised titles. Title searches can be done through the Online Shop, over the counter at Queens Square, or through an approved Information Broker.
Remaining records
Categories of Crown land not yet converted to Torrens title, and outside of the current project scope, include:
- National Parks and State Forests
- Jetties
- Crown land parcels in the Western Division
- Enclosure Permits
- Crown roads and waterways
Decisions about further conversions will be advised on this website but you can contact your local Crown Lands regional office for further information about properties of interest.
Identifying records
Each converted Crown land parcel has a unique lot and plan identity in the format 701/1654321. This is the title reference. Possible ways to discover the title reference for a parcel are:
Use the SIX Viewer or SIX Lite to look for the Lot and DP. Read more about Using SIX.
Find the Lot and DP of a neighbouring parcel, for instance by using the free Street Address Inquiry in the Online Shop, and then use that DP number to obtain a Property Location Map from the Online Shop. If the Crown Reserve parcel is close by, it will show up in the Property Location Map.
Before leaving home
If you have the title reference, a Title Search for a property in the computerised system can be purchased without leaving home by using the Online Shop. A Title Search can also be purchased over the counter at LPI Queens Square.
