Information required to perform a search

For a title search, you will need to know the title reference of the property to be searched. This may be obtained from the land or property description shown on your council rates or land valuation notice.  Or use the Street Address Inquiry in the Online Shop to search for the title reference.

Document request service

LPI’s Document Request Service provides quicker access to records not yet digitised through our digitisation program. If a customer selects a record not yet available, the request is manually scanned and made available to the customer, usually within a 24 hour timeframe, Monday to Friday. The record is then available for immediate online delivery to future customers. This service is available for Dealings, Crown Plans, Primary Applications and Old System deeds and is delivered through LPI’s authorised Information Brokers, LPI's Online Shop and the Spatial Information eXchange (SIX portal).

If a record needs to be scanned, as part of our document request service, you will be notified during the online ordering process and prompted to continue the transaction.

Identity fraud

In any transaction affecting land, be it a sale or a purchase or establishing a mortgage over land, it is important to confirm the identity of the parties involved in the transaction.

To ensure you don't become a victim of identity fraud when dealing with land, it is recommended that stringent processes be adopted in verifying the identity of person(s) claiming a right to deal with the land.
