Graphic Services is the first business within the NSW public sector to achieve certification without external consultant assistance for Quality, Environmental and OH&S management systems.
Enviromental management
We are constantly striving to reduce our environmental impact, by reducing consumption of energy, water, and chemicals and ensuring that hazards are prevented.
Certifications include:
- AS/NZS ISO 14001/2004 – certified on first attempt and first to be certified in the NSW public sector without consultant support.
- First certified “Truly Green” printer by Graphic Arts Services Association of Australia (GASAA).
Quality management
- Quality certified since 1993
- Currently certified to AS/NZS ISO 9001/2008 - the first in the NSW public sector to achieve this certification.
Using a systematic approach has enabled us to reduce errors and waste by 68% since QA practices were implemented. Our continual improvement processes are supported by a system of change requests and logging of non-conformances leading to change.
Occupational health and safety
Due to the nature of many of our processes and equipment, we have a key focus on OH&S supported by comprehensive safe work practices. We are continually looking to reduce risk in all areas of operations.
Certification of the OH&S system to AS/NZS 4801.
Staff development
We’ve initiated a unique staff development program called PEP-UP to ensure staff are sufficiently equipped for the system, production, and administrative tasks of the business.
PEP-UP is funded internally through organisational training funding and externally through federal training grants.
The program has resulted in individual staff skill assessments and development plans for all staff, focused training in areas such as high performance teams and lean manufacturing, and formal recognitions of achievement for staff over a 3 year period.
Performance reporting system
Focusing us on outcomes, we utilise a performance reporting system to track our progress towards our goals in all these areas of management. The performance system incorporates feedback from customers and assists us with our aim of operating effectively and safely for our staff and customers.
