Land and Property Information (LPI) has been capturing standard analogue aerial photography for NSW since 1947. We now have an extensive catalogue of historic and current imagery which can be provided as hard copy prints and scanned photos as well as georeferenced and orthorectified photography. In 2007, LPI acquired a Digital Image Acquisition System (ADS40) and later a Leica ALS50 (Airborne Laser Scanner). From these systems LPI has been collecting medium and high resolution Orthorectified Digital Imagery as well Digital Elevation Data across NSW for a range of purposes.
In the capture of these imagery data sets a number of forward programs have been designed and prepared specific to user requirements across a broad cross section of the digital imagery user environment. The programs are described below.

ADS40 Standard Forward Program (PDF 804.9 KB)

The ADS40 Imagery Standard program displays an index of LPI’s digital imagery covering Central and Eastern NSW as well as selected areas throughout the Western Division. The standard coverage of current airborne digital imagery for NSW is available as 1:100,000 colour balanced mosaic images with a 50cm Ground Sample Distance(GSD). The First Edition Forward Program has been prepared to prioritise and capture specifications as determined through an extensive user requirements survey. This forward program is flexible and should there be a urgent need to reprioritise capture of areas, LPI will conduct a review of priorities.
Emergency Response Projects (PDF 628.4 KB)

LPI is responsible for the urgent capture of imagery covering a wide range of emergency response projects. These include floods, storms, hail, fire, tidal surges and drought etc. This imagery may have been flown at a variety of image resolutions and coverages dependant on the nature of the emergency and the specific technical requirements of the emergency response activity. The coverage of airborne emergency response digital imagery for NSW is available as variable window, colour balanced mosaic images with a 10cm, 20cm or 50cm GSD. The program as displayed has been prepared to show all areas across NSW where emergency response activity has taken place.
NSW Digital Elevation Model Aquisition Program (PDF 1.8 MB)

LPI is responsible for the capture and acquisition of a new and improved NSW Digital Elevation data set. It is expected that this data set will be created through the use of a variety of technologies and produce elevation data from highly accurate classified LAS files with a range of derivative products using the latest Light Detection and Ranging Systems Technology (LiDAR), ADS40 Imagery, Radar, and or Satellite Technologies. This forward program will evolve over the next 12 months, however, LPI has placed emphasis on the capture of high resolution LiDAR derived data along the entire East Coast of NSW and generally following the 10m contour line and below in logical project areas of no greater than 1000 sq km’s.

The ADS40 Imagery Town Imagery Capture Program displays an index of LPI’s High Resolution Digital Imagery covering rural towns across NSW. Generally, LPI captures all NSW rural towns with a population of approximately 400 or greater, but may include smaller villages where there is significant growth or an activity which justifies high resolution imagery capture. The coverage of current airborne digital imagery for towns across NSW is available as variable window covering town planning activity and has a 10cm GSD. The First Edition Forward Program as displayed has been prepared to prioritise and capture specifications as determined through an extensive user requirements survey. It should be noted that this forward program is flexible and should there be a urgent need to reprioritise capture of areas LPI will conduct a review of priorities. For areas across NSW which have very high population bases (e.g. Sydney Newcastle and Wollongong) LPI through Imagery NSW may acquire high resolution imagery via the private sector to agreed capture specifications. These imagery data sets are generally acquired for “Whole of Government” purposes and may not be available to the general public.
