More imagery

Land and Property Information (LPI) distributes a range of other imagery to government agencies and registered customers.

Satellite imagery

Satellite imagery designed to aid in management of resources and monitoring of oceanic and terrestrial changes is available from SPOT 5, a system of satellites launched in 2002.  SPOT stands for Satellite Pour l’Observation de la Terre.

SPOT 5 imagery of NSW from 2006 is available in the SIX Viewer (requires quick software download on first visit).

Imagery from 2008-09 is available for sale to government organisations and organisations working for government. Imagery from 2009-10 will be available soon.

Radar imagery

Radar imagery can be useful in detecting dynamic conditions such as floods. LPI’s radar imagery is provided in the SIX Viewer to organisations approved by Emergency Management NSW. The imagery can be refreshed daily or twice daily if conditions necessitate.

Lidar imagery

LiDAR sensors use light to profile ground contours and also the elevation of buildings, trees, and other objects on the ground. From LiDAR data, depictions of multiple surfaces can be generated – for instance, the tree canopy surface relative to the ground surface. Both government and the private sector have found value in LiDAR imagery.  LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging.
